**Role**:
The Maintenance person will, under the direction of the Maintenance manager:
- Be responsible for the maintenance of buildings under the direction of the manager, to ensure that all areas are maintained regularly.
- Ensure weekly, monthly and annual tasks are performed within timelines as outlined by the manager
- Attend all staff PD days presented at the college. Participate in the goal setting process through the DET PDP eduPay system.
- Attend or access online all mandated professional development as directed by the College.
- Assist with morning unlock of College buildings
- Attend whole school assemblies and events where possible
- Assist with driving the College bus
**Responsibilities**:
**General**
It is the responsibility of each individual to be up to date with events happening throughout the College, to assist with this your outlook Calendar should be set up to include the College Calendar.
**Building Maintenance**:
- Toilet inspections every morning before school, any graffiti removed immediately, toilet repairs and leaks fixed.
- Remove signs of graffiti from walls and windows immediately
- Committed to the principle of ‘continuous improvement’ and be expected to identify and discuss opportunities for improving existing building maintenance processes within the College
- Able to demonstrate initiative and the capacity to appropriately prioritise tasks.
- Ensure classroom furniture and fittings are in good repair
- Set up BBQs and check gas levels, perform relevant safety checks for each use
- Perform both major and minor repair work, as directed by the Manager such as repairing locks and installing window blinds
- ensure that any hazardous conditions are immediately communicated and rectified (make safe)
- Ensure that tools and equipment are in a serviceable condition and report any faults to the Maintenance Manager.
- Receive deliveries of supplies for general maintenance purposes.
- Move delivered items to relevant staff areas / classrooms as required
- Ensure that the maintenance sheds are always clean and orderly in accordance with OH&S principles
- Minor carpentry and brickwork repairs
- Construction of internal storage facilities
- Assist with grounds tasks as required
**Undertake general duties as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal or Business Manager**
- The maintenance person will, at times, be required to undertake other duties related to the role as directed by the Principal/Assistant Principals/Business Manager
- Room/Venue Set up - supporting the College Learning and teaching activities and other operations by:
- Moving furniture and other pieces of equipment, of varying weights, between classrooms and / or storage locations.
- Assisting in venue set-ups e.g. putting out and stacking chairs for assemblies, moving desks out of storage and setting up same in the indoor sports hall for exams.; ‘
- Blower vacuuming of paths and entrances
- **Risk and Occupational Health and Safety**:
- Comply with legislated occupational health and safety practices and participate in consultative processes
- Observe safe work practices in accordance with school policy, training, and instructions
- Identify, report, and where appropriate, action risks/hazards in order to eliminate or mitigate against the risk recurring (Risks arising in the workplace may be financial, site, task, or person-specific or related to safety.)
- Promote and implement occupational health and safety and risk mitigation processes within the College
