Public Affairs Development Manager

As a Public Affairs Specialist at Vestas, you will be at the forefront of expediting wind farm development projects in Australia. Your primary responsibility will be to liaise with government authorities, navigate regulatory frameworks, and advocate for renewable energy solutions.
Your role will contribute significantly to the acceleration of the energy transition towards renewables by addressing permit challenges and building strong relationships with key stakeholders. You will be reporting directly to the Public Affairs Head of APAC.
**Responsibilities**
- Government Relations: Develop and maintain positive relationships with local, state, and federal government stakeholders to inform policy decisions and regulations that facilitate wind farm development
- Permitting and Compliance: Oversee and streamline the permitting process, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and land use planning
- Advocacy: Act as a passionate advocate for renewable energy, communicating the benefits of wind farm projects to government officials, communities, and the public
- Public Engagement: Collaborate with community organizations and local communities to address concerns, generate support, and build a positive image of Vestas within the regions of project development
- Project Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams including project managers, engineers, and legal experts to facilitate project development while ensuring alignment with Vestas' goals
- Issue Management: Proactively identify and address potential challenges, risks, and roadblocks in the project development process, and devise strategies to overcome them
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay abreast of changes in relevant legislation, policy, and industry trends, and provide timely insights and recommendations to Vestas' leadership
**Qualifications**
- Professional Experience: Several years of relevant work experience in public affairs, government relations, or a related field, with a demonstrated track record of success in project management and advocacy
- Regulatory Knowledge: A strong understanding of the regulatory landscape related to renewable energy, including permitting, compliance, and environmental standards
- Strategic Planning: Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans for public affairs initiatives
- Legal and Policy Expertise: Familiarity with legal and policy issues related to renewable energy development, including permitting processes and environmental impact assessments

- Advocacy: Strong communication skills and the ability to passionately advocate for renewable energy solutions to diverse audiences
