**About the Role**

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Project Officer to work as part of the team based in Parramatta and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and aboriginal heritage of NSW.

The NPWS Invasive Species Unit is looking for a passionate and talented professional to assist with weed management. The Invasive Species Unit provides strategic direction, coordination and best practice specialist support to invasive species programs across NPWS. This is a unique opportunity for those interested in managing weeds for biodiversity conservation to work with diverse programs and teams across NPWS, as well as external stakeholders.

The role provides leadership to weed management programs and initiatives aimed at abating the threat of weeds to biodiversity. It includes planning, prioritisation, coordination and monitoring effectiveness of NPWS weed programs, including assisting with data capture and analysis.

Activities may include providing advice and information related to legislative responsibilities and weed control; facilitating research and developing collaborative partnerships; education and awareness activities; and working with stakeholders to facilitate implementation of weed management actions.

The Project Officer is also responsible for providing diverse project management support services, including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, implementing and monitoring project plans.

**About You**

As a Project Officer you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams, and across multiple organisations. Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar.

In addition to your strong verbal and written communication skills, you will have proven ability to work with stakeholders to achieve program and project outcomes whilst exercising sound judgement and discretion.

**Essential Requirements**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
