- Plan and implement evidence based intervention strategies in collaboration with classroom teachers to support students with social/emotional and regulation needs.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively, as part of a team and network with the wide range of people within the education and wider community including communication with external stakeholders, families/parents, teachers and ES.
- A relevant tertiary qualification such as welfare, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy.

**Role**:
The Student Wellbeing Officer will play a key role providing administrative and organisational support for the school team by supporting the student wellbeing function of the school.

The staff member will participate in stakeholder-parent-staff-student meetings, support the planning and implementation of school-based protocols and processes as well as more broadly be a positive role model for wellbeing education.

This position operates under the supervision and direction of the Principal and within the Wellbeing Support Team.

The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility. Staff management issues will be resolved with mínimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases. Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice, although this will generally be confined to matters relating to the immediate work area, service provision or educational program and is unlikely to impact substantially on whole of school operations.

This is the minimum range for positions that carry a mandatory qualification requirement of not less than four years. Professional student support positions become a feature at range 3 (e.g. therapists, psychologists) where standard professional services are delivered. Professional support and guidance will be close at hand and deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Work alongside classroom teachers to support student wellbeing and ensure students receive the support they need
- Documenting discussion and activities relating to student wellbeing and implementing strategies and recommendations for support such as database of students and interventions
- Keeping abreast of current trends and best practice in student wellbeing and incorporating these into your practice
- Be confident with the delivery of small group wellbeing sessions including positive play time activities in the playground
- Liaise with service providers and student support services (SSS, KESO team) to facilitate student referrals to support the wellbeing of individual students and attend a variety of meetings with staff, departmental, team, parents and allied health service providers
- Assist with the delivery of new and emerging needs including programs and individual support within the priorities of the school such as trauma informed practice and behaviour support that guides students, teachers and families.
- Work collaboratively to support students/staff during & after critical incidents
- Coordinate support of students who experience barriers in accessing mainstream education (with a focus on Tier 2 Inclusive Education identified students); including liaising with families, external agencies and regular Student Support Group meetings and case conferences
- Document clear and concise processes/procedures for all processes within the role in collaboration with relevant parties
