About the position


The Team Leader, Student Wellbeing Connect will lead the day-to-day operations of the Student Wellbeing Connect Team, including triage, assessment, work allocation, supervision, secondary consultation and advice in the management of wellbeing needs within the University Community.

In addition, this role will oversee the management of complex student presentations as well as ensuring the provision of targeted support for students who are reporting to Safer Community if they have experienced concerning, threatening inappropriate or uncomfortable behaviours.

Developing relationships and collaborating with other teams within the division and DVC Students portfolio and stakeholders within and beyond the University is an essential part of the Team Leader's role.


The Student Wellbeing Connect service is a dynamic, high-demand service that offers goal-oriented case management support, assessment, referral & intervention to students experiencing complex psychosocial concerns affecting their capacity to succeed at university.

The service also provides consultation, outreach and support to other parts of the university on matters of student wellbeing.

The Team Leader, Student Wellbeing Connect works alongside the Team Leaders in Counselling services, Accessibility Services and Intake in the broader Health Wellbeing and Inclusion Division.

The Team Leader Student Wellbeing Connect will provide operational leadership, and supervision of staff in the Student Wellbeing Connect service.


Mandatory Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • Qualifications in Social Work or Psychology, and extensive management in similar setting/s such as mental health, health or wellbeing services, including full and current membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, or with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Psychologist.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills with experience in managing and leading staff to promote a cohesive and effective team and managing workflows.
  • Ability to be responsible for program/system development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders to achieve stated outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level of selfmotivation and personal management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing professional staff engaged in the delivery of clinical and case management services, including experience in directing, engaging and motivating staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy, reporting and legislative requirements associated with the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies and practices in pursuit of continuous improvement and experience developing innovative solutions and contributing to strategic planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Extensive demonstrated experience in case management, counselling or wellbeing roles with experiencing in managing complex psychosocial issues, behaviour management, crisis intervention, risk assessment and managing a demanding caseload.
  • Experience in working in a trauma informed, victim centered manner, including experience in working with (but not limited to) people who have experienced intimate partner violence, bullying, harassment and sexual assault.
