About the role
As the Regional Coordinator and Land Use and Statutory Planning Officer, you will help lead and contribute to key projects that ensure the protection of parklands and habitats. You will be responsible for working across the Melbourne region, from the Yarra and Dandenong National Parks to inner urban parks such as Albert Park, as well as participating in the establishment of new parks in the growth areas of West and North Melbourne. You will liaise with state agencies and local governments to deliver objectives related to habitat protection and social amenity. Additionally, you will lead the delivery of programs focusing on open space and community sport planning and manage a small team. You will review existing legislation and policies, providing advice on public land management, and communicate effectively to audiences with varying levels of understanding.
**We're looking for someone with**:
- A tertiary qualification relating to Planning, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Science and/or equivalent experience in a similar field is desirable
- Proven experience in a statutory planning role
- Sound working knowledge of environmental, land use and statutory planning, procedural requirements and legislation
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- An ability to develop and nurture effective stakeholder relationships
