**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Compliance Officers are responsible for ensuring child care sector compliance with the Family Assistance Law through compliance investigations and contributing to the Financial Integrity Strategy outcomes.

The department has available positions in our Compliance Operations Team and our Provider Audits Team. The Compliance Operations Team supports the integrity of the child care system through monitoring, early intervention, and sanction of child care providers that do not comply with the Family Assistance Law. Compliance Officers contribute to or undertake site visits, campaigns and targeted operations, and regulatory monitoring and investigations.

Provider Audits perform similar functions to Compliance Operations with a focus on the financial auditing of relevant obligations under the Family Assistance Law.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the APS Level 5 Compliance Officer may include:

- Undertake case-based investigations or audits, analyse data and evidence to identify non-compliance, gather evidence and support monitoring visits and warrants, prepare tables of evidence to support draft decisions and recommendations for enforcement action including nudge messages, infringement notices, sanctions or prosecution
- Analyse data and information to identify risk and threat of alleged non-compliance or trends to determine and report on compliance with the Family Assistance Law including drafting recommendations and critical decisions relating to compliance investigations or audits
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support information sharing, and joint compliance monitoring activities
- Provide advice and education to providers and stakeholders to support compliance with the Family Assistance Law
- Engage in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems to support the team, including reviewing templates, standard operating procedures and reports
- Undertaking regional and interstate travel
- Represent the department by attending court or tribunals as a witness, and support preparation of litigation documents for cases referred to court or Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
