About the role

The Senior Clinician Grade 4 will function as an Advanced Practice Clinical Dietitian (Gastroenterology), providing a primary contact Advanced Practice Dietetics service to Gastroenterology patients and assist in the provision of clinical leadership for Eastern Health dietetics more broadly.

The Advanced Practice Dietitian Gastroenterology will provide a primary contact service for patients on the gastroenterology waiting list utilising highly developed clinical assessment and management skills for clients with gastrointestinal symptoms. The Dietitian will complete and maintain role-specific competencies in this role and will work with the Gastroenterology team, relevant nursing staff and clinical mentors to ensure the service is best practice, safe and meets the needs of this patient group. The role is responsible for the implementation, review and evaluation of the service as well as liaising with the Elective Surgery Transformation Projects Lead.

This position will be based across sites at Eastern Health and staff will be required to travel and work across the various Eastern Health campuses, programs, and where required, partner organisations.

The APDG has a central role within the Dietetics service and as a member of the Specialty Medicine leadership team with a commitment to continuing education of staff in the area of Gastroenterology, evidenced based practice and research.

About you

**To be successful in this role you will possess**:
Professional qualifications and eligible for registration and/or membership of Dietitians Australia.

Demonstrated clinical expertise with a minimum 10 years’ experience as a Dietitian including 5 years within gastroenterology services

Possess high level skills and extensive knowledge in the area of gastroenterology including the range of therapeutic diets required for the management of gastrointestinal conditions, identification of red flags/potential patients requiring escalation to, and assessment by a gastroenterologist

Higher academic achievements

Demonstrated ability to drive change to provide best practice within dietetics and gastroenterology

Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community services.

Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and an ability to network and draw on external expertise within the area of dietary management within gastroenterology

Demonstrated experience teaching or supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and/or provision of specialist dietetic education programmes to staff from other disciplines

Demonstrated ability to appropriately identify when to seek assistance and/or guidance

Demonstrated initiative and able to independently solve problems in potentially stressful situations

Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and problem solving capacity

Well-developed leadership, negotiation and teamwork skills to enhance working relationships within the department and across services at Eastern Health

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills

Knowledge and understanding of the cultural diversity of the community

High level planning, organisational and communication skills to ensure the implementation of sustainable changes across a range of programs and sites

Models the values of Eastern Health and the Dietetics Department at all times

A collaborative and consultative approach to working with key stakeholders

High-level negotiation, communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

Commitment to professional development as demonstrated by regular attendance at in-services, conferences, workshops, etc.

Competent computer skills particularly in Word Processing and Internet use, and the ability to learn dedicated software

Current Victorian Driver’s License.
