The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Psychology.
**About the role**:
- **Placement Coordination**: Manage and coordinate placements for Deakin School of Psychology's counselling training programs, working closely with Course Directors to ensure high-quality placements that meet program requirements. Promote the School and maintain partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities.
- **Teaching and Support**: Participate in teaching postgraduate counselling courses and support students' achievement on placement, adhering to the University's teaching principles and enhancing the student experience.
- **Industry and Community Engagement**: Develop and nurture links with industry, professional bodies, and the wider community. Contribute to service and scholarship within the counselling programs through innovative research and community service initiatives and provide additional supervision to postgraduate students as needed.
- This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.
***As a Lecturer in Counselling, Education-focused, you will**:
- Responsible for initiating, coordinating, and managing administrative systems to facilitate student placements efficiently and professionally. Ensures accountability and compliance with quality systems, University policies, regulatory standards, and legislative requirements.
- Provide academic leadership and support for counselling placements within the Post-graduate Counselling program
- Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources (including through unit leadership roles). Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
- Assist in integrating new pedagogical research across all aspects of education.
**To be successful, you’ll have**:
- Registered counsellor (ACA/PACFA) or psychologist (AHPRA)
- Substantial experience in the placement and training of counsellors
- Familiarity with the relevant professional requirements for the training of counsellors
- Experience in the provision of placements in a tertiary environment, including the ability to develop appropriate systems and processes, negotiate sensitively with students and developed understandings of student learning needs
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
