- As the Government Affairs Adviser, Missiles and Fire Control/Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) you will have the opportunity to help the business area and related teams to take forward Lockheed Martin’s activities working with key State, and Federal Government stakeholders in an exciting new field.
- In this role you will develop, plan, and deliver government and regulatory affairs strategies to strengthen and support company business objectives.
- Reporting to the Head of Government Relations, Lockheed Martin Australia.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Monitor the political and policy landscape and analyse and advise on implications to support achieving business objectives
- Lead the arrangement of engagements at senior political levels (primarily State governments and sometimes federal) relevant to the business and undertake discussions with key government stakeholders
- Develop and implement political and regulatory strategies and undertake advocacy to support business objectives
- Develop and manage effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Lead the preparation of high quality briefing and advocacy materials for representations to key stakeholders, including for announcement opportunities and events involving political levels related to the Business Area
- Develop and execute Government Affairs strategies encompassing internal and external communications
- Work with internal stakeholders across Business Areas, Government Affairs and comms.
- Provide advice to Program Management and other Leadership regarding:

- the political and regulatory frameworks in which Lockheed Martin operates and associated decision making processes, the Government’s national security and defence objectives, regulatory affairs and legislative frameworks
- Assist in identifying any necessary government-to-government agreements
- Keep abreast of relevant government, regulatory, legislative, political activities.

**About you**:

- Significant experience working in the local/regional/federal defence or national security environment, or government sector.
- Significant experience (7 years plus) working in a political or senior policy advisory or relevant program implementation role
- Excellent strategic communications skills, including:

- Proven ability to liaise with senior stakeholders across a variety of environments and to deliver outcomes working in a complex environment
- In-depth understand of communications principles, concepts, practices and standards.
- Significant experience preparing and presenting concise oral and written reports, briefings, updates and other documentation for a wide range of stakeholders.
- Sharp analytical and negotiation skills
- A sound understanding of federal and state competencies and frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including experience with integrated government or regulatory affairs planning and project management for internal and external stakeholders.
- Significant political and policy acumen
- Knowledge of the Australian political environment is desirable
- Excellent project management skills

**Qualifications**
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline (Public Affairs, Policy, Journalism, Law, International relations, etc from a recognised institution) and experience working within the Australian political structure to achieve objectives, preferably within the political, national security and/or defence realm.
