Job Description

A highly motivated and skilled policy professional is required to join the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) within the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. This exciting opportunity is for a Senior Policy Officer to support the development and implementation of policies related to emergency and disaster management.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organisational, and coordination skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. They will be able to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes and to quality standards, with high-level interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

About the Role
  • Support the development and implementation of policies relating to the Australian Government's role in emergency and disaster management.
  • Conduct research, analysis, and provide policy advice on emerging issues and risks affecting emergency management capability.
  • Develop written material such as ministerial submissions, briefs, reports, and correspondence.
  • Work collaboratively with government officials, industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
