About the Role
Market Surveillance is a global function within Institutional Risk. We are a second line function who work together with the business and leverage advanced technology to help ANZ anticipate and navigate the forever changing regulatory environment.
You are to conduct independent reviews for potential market manipulation and trading misconduct & will be required to lead or collaborate on various regulatory responses and projects and provide leadership of the team.
You will be responsible for driving the next generation of surveillance capabilities using emerging advanced technologies including AI. This includes responsibility for ensuring controls are fit-for-purpose and data is well managed.

What will your day look like?
Lead a global surveillance function to enforce market conduct regulations and related ANZ policies.
Design and deliver the Surveillance strategy to keep pace with regulatory expectations, Markets strategy and evolving technology capabilities.
Drive change in Markets culture to create better outcomes for the customer.
Develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both locally and international. Including but not limited to Compliance, Market Risk, Markets business, Technology leads, Project teams, internal and external audit / legal teams.
Subject Matter Expert for regulatory notices and internal investigations.
Technology Product Owner for strategic surveillance platforms.
Control owner for surveillance controls.
Chair for ANZ Global Surveillance Governance Forum.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
Deep understanding of Markets Product knowledge, prior proven experience in trade surveillance, trading or risk management.
Experience in leading large diverse multi-location teams. Must have strong self-awareness, team-oriented approach to problem-solving and an ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment preferably with some international experience.
Strategic and influential leader with current knowledge of advanced emerging technologies and how to leverage these to advance the function.
Strong quantitative skillset - data analysis and insights, reporting with knowledge of data science techniques an advantage.
Process driven to ensure the controls and governance framework remains robust to meet regulatory requirements.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and be able to relay complex technical concept to non-technical audience.
Current understanding of the industry landscape.
High ethical standards, respect for confidentiality and privacy.
Good understanding of global regulations eg MIFID, MAR, FX Global Code, Aus. Corp Act, ASX Market Integrity Rules
Business, Computer Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics Tertiary Qualified.
