Great opportunity for an experienced WHS Advisor as MQ Health diversify their WHS management processes across their MQ Health Hosptial and Clinics.
THE ROLE
The MQ Health Workplace Safety and Risk team have a newly created position for a WHS Advisor within MQ Health. This role will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the WHS Management System and coordinating the implementation and maintenance of various safety initiatives throughout MQ Health.
This role will have the opportunity to contribute to planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and recommending improvements to ensure Macquarie University Hospital and MQ Health Clinics. This will align in meeting legislative requirements and accreditation standards. This role will play an integral part in promoting safe work practices and supporting processes with a focus on the management of hazardous manual tasks and chemicals.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Well-developed knowledge of WHS legislation and standards- Experience in the management of risks associated with hazardous manual tasks and chemicals- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.-
- Experience in the development of preventative strategies to minimise health and safety risks.- Application of analytical and problems solving skills to develop approaches and deliver outcomes.- Experience in the preparation and delivery of WHS related training.- Ability to set priorities, establish and achieve agreed objectives.- Ability to work independently and as a member of a small cohesive team.- Healthcare or similar industry experience desirable.
You will be responsible for (not limited to):
- Working collaboratively across Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) and MQ Health Clinics to promote, support and foster a workplace culture that promotes a positive and proactive approach to safety and health.- Assisting in the review and implementation of the WHS management system including, policies, procedures, guidelines, resources and tools.- Conducting and supporting investigations including the development, implementation and review of corrective measures.- Conducting, supporting and monitoring completion of risk assessments, workplace inspections, audits and the implementation of risk control strategies.- Assisting in the administration and management of WHS systems including documentation development and user support.- Reviewing incident, hazard and near miss reports and collate data to assist in the identification of trends and recommendations for improvement.- Coordinating and supporting the implementation and evaluation of speciality WHS programs and frameworks (such as hazardous manual tasks, chemicals), including undertaking audits, reviewing and delivering training and promoting champion networks.- Assisting in the preparation of reports on established metrics for presentation to various WHS committees, forums and other stakeholders.

To Apply- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in developing and implementing Workplace Safey management systems and related initiatives including hazardous manual tasks and chemicals.- Well-developed understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and standards.- Qualification in a relevant discipline (eg Work Health and Safety, Nursing, Allied Health).- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.- Experience in the preparation and delivery of WHS related training.- Ability to set priorities, establish and achieve agreed objectives.- Ability to work independently and as a member of a small cohesive team.- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet.
