The Role

MQ Health is seeking a Senior Resident Medical Officer (PGY3 or higher) to join our Doctors in Training Program for the 2024 program. The two streams of focus for the Senior Resident Medical Officers will be within, Surgical - Neurosurgical Stream and Surgical - ENT/Ophthalmology Stream. You will provide clinical services and participate in the teaching and research environment of MQ Health.- Be mentored and work directly alongside experienced and highly regarded consultants in a diverse spectrum of surgical specialities- Collaborate with groups across MQ Health to participate in research projects- Be exposed to a wide range of clinical conditions and treatment for these, including advanced procedural interventions such as robotic surgery- Be educated and supported by advanced subspecialty registrars and fellows- Direct experience with cutting-edge surgical innovations including robotic surgery- Access opportunities to publish research articles with world-renowned leaders in surgical fields

Key Accountabilities include
_Not limited to_):
- Provide clinical service within the scope of practice granted by the Advisory Committee and approved by the Board to patients of MUH and the Clinics.- Participate in and fulfil the duties and responsibilities as set out in each of the relevant HETI term descriptions.- Conduct initial assessment of patients, including an accurately documented comprehensive patient history and physical examination.- Liaise and work effectively with allied health professionals involved in patient care including the broader care team.- Maintain accurate patient documentation and electronic medical records in a timely manner, to reflect clinical decisions, tests, procedures and discharge diagnoses and instructions.- If required, present at and represent MQ Health at relevant internal and external conferences, grand rounds, and similar sessions in support of advancing the academic mission of MQ Health.- Participate in journal clubs for relevant Discipline and/or Program.

To Apply- MBBS or equivalent qualification and registration as a medical practitioner in Australia (AHPRA).- Demonstrated understanding of the patient’s perspective and ability to communicate key information to the patient and carers- Demonstrated experience as a PGY2 doctor in basic procedural techniques such as intravenous cannulation and venesection.- Demonstrated interest and aptitude for one or more of the following activities: supervision of students, delivery of educational activities or research.- A strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to clinical care and ability to work as part of a team.- Completion of ALS2 desirable or willingness to undertake the same
