**About the role**

**Based in **Brisbane or Adelaide **the **Policy Advisor for Access **is responsible for delivering and implementing the notices, networks and other initiatives that improve access for high productivity and specialised vehicles to the Australian road network.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**

Some of the key responsibilities of this role are:

- Contribute to the development of access notices, regulatory instruments that grant access to the road network, with a focus on quality and timeliness.
- Conduct research and analyse data, issues, and trends.
- Prepare evidence-based policy proposals, briefings and correspondence which clearly communicates findings, recommends policy positions, and identifies area for reform.
- Provide expert information about access matters to stakeholders.
- Contribute to team and unit business planning to develop work programs that deliver on the long-term goals of the NHVR to improve access for heavy vehicles and drive improvements in productivity.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies (federal, state, and local), industry and other stakeholders.

- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and manage effective relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
- Well-developed written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate desired outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage small to moderate work projects to ensure delivery within time, quality, and budget constraints.
- Demonstrated skills in research, analysis and problem solving evidenced by ability to frame complex issues clearly and precisely.
- Ability to form part of an effective team, making constructive contributions and leveraging the skills and capabilities of others.
- Experience carrying out mid-level research, data collection and analysis to gain meaningful insights and conclusions.
