Marketing & Communications Manager - Safe Steps

Leadership role overseeing all marketing & communications strategies

Safe Steps is the only 24/7, family violence response centre in Victoria, providing a state-wide entry point for victim-survivors of domestic and family violence. Services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family violence risk assessment, safety planning, webchat, and access to supported crisis accommodation. SafeSteps provide services to all victim-survivors and recognise that most of our work is dedicated to the needs of women and children which reflects the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
Our research and advocacy is informed by our practice and promotes the voices and diverse experiences of victim-survivors. We advocate to create systemic change and effective pathways for victim survivors from crisis to safety and recovery. Our vision is safety, support and respect for all victim-survivors of domestic and family violence.
Reporting to the Group Director Growth & Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and implementing traditional and digital marketing plans, overseeing campaigns, managing public relations efforts, and ensuring brand consistency across all channels. You will also have responsibility for internal communications, all fundraising initiatives and activities, sponsorships, partnerships and philanthropic relationships and activities. This will include measuring the performance and effectiveness of all brand, marketing and communications activities and manage a small team of marketing and communications professionals. Pivotal to your role, will be your engage with the group executive and senior leaders across the organisation to ensure that all activities, strategies and messaging aligns with Safe Steps’ corporate goals and objectives.
To be considered for this role, you will be an experience marketing leader with experience strategizing and delivering marketing and communication activities ideally across aligned NFP or community services organisations. You will have successfully developed and implement marketing and fundraising campaigns across multiple channels. This will also include experience in media liaison, speech writing and crisis communication.
You are considered a conceptual thinker who brings a strong customer and client focused orientation. Importantly, you are a self-starter who can work autonomously when required and demonstrates initiative. You will have exceptional communication and attention to detail and are comfortable engaging with the executive group and key stakeholders.
Experience in family and domestic violence sector, would be highly desirable. Formal qualifications in marketing and/or communications or a related field are mandatory.
This is a pivotal role for SafeSteps with responsibility for building a relevant and sustainable marketing strategies that supports victim-survivors and their children experiencing family violence.
