The Role
We are seeking a strong leader who can inspire and support a team of passionate privacy officers to:

- drive key strategic and operational activities to facilitate a coordinated approach to privacy awareness, education and compliance;
- work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver initiatives that foster an open public service culture and information policy settings that encourage open government and protection of personal information;
- Provide timely, high level strategic and authoritative advice on complex and emerging legislative and policy issues to the OIC executive leadership team; and
- Pro-actively identify, brief and respond to complex issues arising from privacy breaches.

About OIC
OIC is an independent body that reports to Parliament. Our vision is an informed Queensland that values and respects information rights and responsibilities.
We have a statutory role under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the IP Act to facilitate greater and easier access to information held by government agencies. We also assist agencies to understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.
The Privacy team
- manage a caseload of privacy complaints and data breach notifications;
- mediate privacy complaints which have not been able to be resolved with the Queensland government agency involved;
- conduct reviews and audits of privacy compliance and good practice; and
- proactively engage with stakeholders to promote good privacy practices including privacy by design.
