The Role
We are seeking a strong leader who can inspire and support a professional team. In the role of Assistant Information Commissioner, you will:

- Work in close collaboration with fellow Assistant Information Commissioners and the Right to Information Commissioner to ensure that OIC delivers a consistent and effective external review service.
- Coach, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to build expertise and skill in the areas of effective and persuasive communication and negotiation and fostering an engaged, connected, supportive and high-performing team culture.
- Supervise your team in its conduct of merits review of often highly complex, sensitive or difficult access and amendment decisions made under the RTI and IP Acts.
- Identify and pursue flexible strategies to resolve external reviews informally in an independent, fair and timely manner.
- When informal resolution is unable to be reached, make clear and concise formal written decisions.
- Lead strategies and support your team to deal with unreasonable and high conflict behaviour from external review participants.
- Effectively and sustainably meet performance and service targets and obligations under the RTI and IP Acts.

About OIC
OIC is an independent body that reports to Parliament. Our vision is an informed Queensland that values and respects information rights and responsibilities. We have a statutory role under the RTI Act and the IP Act to facilitate greater and easier access to information held by government agencies. We also assist agencies to understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.
