**Your role**:
**Responsibilities include (but not limited to)**:

- Identify and make recommendations to address strategic and systemic privacy issues across the department.
- Maintain currency of relevant legislation, caselaw, and skills in order to provide advice to senior stakeholders and departmental staff in relation to privacy management and compliance with the Information Privacy Act 2009 and associated Information Privacy Principles and other relevant privacy and other legislation including but not limited to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
- Develop and maintain privacy and information policy, standards, procedures and guidelines based on State and Federal legislative and regulatory requirements, State Government policy and directives, and industry better practice.
- Maintain and communicate the department's privacy management plan for maturing the department's privacy management practices and identify the impact of any relevant legislative, regulatory or industry best practice changes on the department.
- Engage with relevant State and Federal privacy regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, internal and external stakeholders to ensure that privacy management practices and data ethics considerations are managed appropriately to balance government accountability and transparency with the adequate protection of student, staff and parent/carer personal information.
- Prepare materials and high-level definitive advice in consultation with relevant departmental business units to influence communications and mediations with the Office of the Information Commissioner or Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and support the carriage of privacy matters lodged with the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
- Review Privacy Impact Assessments prepared by departmental business units and provide advice on necessary risk remediation.
- Lead multiple simultaneous privacy matters, handle competing priorities, deliver quality work outcomes and ensure legislative needs are achieved within scheduled scope and timeframe.
- Identify the communications needs of stakeholder groups in order to develop and deliver training to departmental employees on contemporary privacy management practice and their obligations under relevant statutory privacy frameworks.
