**About the role**:
The Civil Law Division sits within the Legal Services Department and comprises of the Civil Litigation Unit, Employment Law, Commercial Law, Privacy & Freedom of Information, Royal Commissions and Inquiries and Legal Practice Unit.
As the successful applicant, you will be required to work as an integral part of the team providing an administrative legal support function. You will work directly with Police Lawyers and sworn staff supporting them with administration tasks to carry out their functions.

**Your duties will include**:

- Receiving, recording, management and maintenance of large volumes of documents in hard copy and electronically, in a timely and efficient manner with attention to accuracy.
- Documentation/file management and other general administrative duties.
- Management of financial records, record security and monthly reports.
- Undertake research, analysis and other administrative functions.
- Minute taking and preparation of meeting documents.
- Assisting the Executive Director's and Directors office where required.

**As the successful applicant, you will have**:

- A high level of planning and organisation skill with demonstrated ability to adhere to critical timelines and security requirements.
- Well-developed computer skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with a diverse range of customers both internal and external to ensure the team goals are met.
- Demonstrated ability to exemplify, maintain self-discipline and organisation skills with the capacity to provide the levels of integrity and professionalism required by the unit.
- Previous experience within Legal Services and/or Criminal Justice Degree will be highly regarded.
- Working autonomously on specific tasks to ensure they are completed in an appropriate timeframe.

Undertaking study in Bachelor of Laws is not required and practical legal training supervision is not offered in this role.

**Requirements and relevant information**:

- One (1) x full-time, fixed term until 30/06/2024 position available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
- As a member of the Legal Services Department you will be located, on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity. However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department. This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains.
