**The Opportunity**:
As Junction's Aboriginal Housing Liaison Officer, you will be responsible for identifying and responding to the cultural and specific needs of Aboriginal people within Junction’s tenancies, including providing advocacy and referral services, providing advice, guidance, and solutions to tenancy management. In this newly created role, you will influence improvements in policies and processes to embed best practices in relation to First People’s housing outcomes.

Key to your success in this role will be your ability to use your strong relationship-building skills to encourage Aboriginal tenants and associated people to engage with tenancy staff to resolve issues in sustaining tenancies and educating communities. Likewise, your ability to communicate in a supportive and collaborative manner will be highly valued in working with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement a range of initiatives designed to strengthen connections and raise awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures and knowledge of Junction staff.

**About You**:
We are seeking a highly passionate person who:

- Has demonstrated knowledge of the needs of a diverse range of Aboriginal people; the range of housing and housing-related services within the community
- Holds experience in providing culturally appropriate advice, information, and assistance in relation to Aboriginal people and communities
- Has an understanding of Community Development and Engagement Principles
- Possesses sound communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and establish rapport with people we work with, staff, and external agencies
- Holds a degree or tertiary qualifications in either Property, Social Work, Business Administration, or relevant equivalent (or lesser qualification complemented by substantial relevant experience)

**You Will Need To**:

- Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
- Hold or be willing to obtain a current Safe Environments Certificate
- Hold a current unencumbered Australian driver’s licence and be willing to drive
- Undergo pre-employment testing as part of the recruitment process
