**About the role**
We have a permanent opportunity for a **Principal - Data Science **to** **develop and drive our data science capability. You’ll provide leadership, strategic direction and innovation to facilitate data driven decision making for Water Corporation. This role will be based in our Leederville office, reporting to the Manager Advanced Analytics.
We offer flexible working, providing you an opportunity to work a mix of both home and at our office in Leederville. We also have 9 day fortnight options available, whatever creates a better balance for you.
**What the role will involve**
- Own and govern data science standards and policies for Water Corporation
- Plan and lead the data science and AI lifecycle for problem solving including data source identification, problem formulation, exploratory data analysis, model prototyping, model validation, algorithm deployment, and benefits tracking.
- Maintain relationships and partnerships with external bodies relating to data science and analytics
- Lead the analysis and definition of complex business requirements and translate into data science processes and designs
- Review algorithms and modelling submissions by consultants and other agencies
**Key skills and experience**
You’ll hold a degree in data science, mathematics, information management or a related field, with extensive knowledge and experience with data science methods and techniques. Experience with cloud platforms, data acquisition, ETL processes, and analytics tools (Python, R, Spark), along with demonstrated ability to partner with, and influence key stakeholders will ensure success in this role.
