**Role Details**: The Legal Officer is a role within the Screening Unit, Community Investment and Support and is accountable to the Manager, Policy for:

- Preparing documentation for the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) where Screening Unit decisions are appealed.
- Conducting legal and policy research as required.
- Assisting with the development of Screening Unit policies and procedures.
- Drafting responses to Screening Unit inbox enquiries.

**Special Conditions**: National Police Check required.

Employment-related Screening Check required.

Role Status: Term up to 11/04/2025.

Essential Qualifications: Applicant needs to have a tertiary qualification in law. DHS are not able to provide supervised practice.

**About the Business**:
Community Investment and Support is responsible for the provision of many vital services to the South Australian public to help build stronger and better-connected communities. The division provides screening of those who work with children or vulnerable people, as well as procurement of goods and services for the department, including important social services from the not-for profit sector.

The division also provides grants and commissions services to promote economic participation, as well as a range of concessions to the community, and interpreting and translating services to both public and private organisations.
