The Budget Strategy Group maintains a central role in supporting sound financial management in Victoria.
The Program Budgeting Team, within the Budget Strategy Group, leads the implementation of reforms to the Government's budget and financial management framework.
About the role
The DTF Program Budgeting Team has an exciting opportunity for an Analyst, Program Budgeting (VPS4) to join its team on an ongoing, full-time basis.
**Key accountabilities**:
- Contribute to the development of new frameworks and processes to support the introduction of, and insights from, Program Budgeting
- Support the identification, design and systemisation of how financial information can be supplemented with other existing and potential future data from a variety of sources such as non-financial data or relevant financial comparators
- Support developing and strengthening DTF's capability and systems to provide impactful and timely insights to Ministers and senior executives on financial and non-financial performance matters
- Support the preparation of quality and timely advice for the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, DTF executives and the project's steering committee on key issues and reforms
- Contribute to the management of key relationships with key stakeholders in DTF, and across departments and agencies
About you
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following:
- Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, including a strong understanding of resource allocation principles, government budget and financial
- Experience in building and maintaining productive and positive relationships with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience developing and communicating high-quality advice (including both verbal briefings and written products) including the ability to convey complex issues persuasively and effectively, at both a technical and business level
- Intellectually curious, with an ability to generate new ideas and thinking, in an evidence-based approach
