Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and state-wide. **About the **North Eastern Public Health Unit (NEPHU)**

NEPHU is one of nine public health units in Victoria: three in metropolitan Melbourne and six covering regional Victoria. Together these units form a coordinated network, working in partnership with the Department of Health to deliver a comprehensive public health program for Victoria. The NEPHU is led and coordinated by Austin Health with responsibility spanning approximately 1.81m people living in the northeast of metropolitan Melbourne. We work collaboratively to improve the health and wellbeing of the NEPHU population through health promotion, prevention and protection activity. We do this through evidence informed population and place-based responses to current and emerging health needs and emergencies. In this way we contribute to a vision of active connected and safe communities for all - with healthy places, healthy people and a healthier tomorrow. The NEPHU is proud of its diverse multidisciplinary team who provide a service across extended hours seven days per week.

**About the role**

The Population Health Planning and Evaluation Lead will be responsible for the planning and evaluation of meaningful and measured public health strategies and initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of the population living in the Northeast of Melbourne. This includes development and evaluation of the key strategic health promotion and prevention documents, including; the NEPHU Population Health Catchment Plan, evaluation strategy, monitoring and reporting and accompanying biennial action plans.

**About you**

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

- Tertiary qualification in any of the following or similar: Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion), Bachelor of Public Health Promotion, Bachelor of Public Health and Health Promotion, Bachelor of Health Science (Health Promotion)
- Demonstrated competence in a leadership role within the health prevention and promotion sector
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic planning and program activity in a complex, multi-agency environment
- Working understanding of the health and/or social services sectors in Victoria and knowledge of the population health, promotion, prevention and early intervention landscape
- Understanding of the social determinants of health, public health frameworks, plans and polices, and an ability to operationalise these into practice
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary methods, principles and practice within health promotion and prevention, with a specific focus on planning and evaluation.
