**Commercial**

The Commercial team is a part of the larger Commercial & Production Department at SBS and plays a crucial role in managing all commercial aspects of SBS’s television and online content. It supports the negotiation, execution, and management of deals related to the acquisition, commission, and distribution of content across multiple platforms. The team works closely with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Network Programming, and Commissioning Teams, and external partners such as licensors and production companies, to secure optimal commercial outcomes that align with SBS’s Charter, Vision, and Values, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and policies.

**The Role**

Reporting to the Manager Commercial, the Business Affairs Manager will be responsible for:

- ** Negotiation & Deal Management**: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to negotiate and execute agreements for the acquisition, commissioning, and distribution of content across various platforms.
- ** Contract Drafting**: Prepare and draft agreements, including licensing, production, and talent contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and SBS policies.
- ** Revenue Maximisation**: Assist in identifying and maximising revenue opportunities from commissioned content, including recoupment, brand funding, sponsorships, and partnerships.
- ** Stakeholder Liaison**: Provide advice and updates to internal and external stakeholders on deal progress, ensuring effective communication and timely management of schedules.
- ** Operational Efficiency**: Develop and streamline business processes to mitigate risks, enhance workflows, and maintain accurate records in SBS’s rights management system.
- ** Team Leadership**: Create and manage performance and development plans for staff, nurturing talent and fostering a positive work environment.

About you;
- ** Strong Background in Legal and Business Affairs**: 5+ years of demonstrated experience within a network or production company, showcasing a deep understanding of the industry and its legal complexities.
- ** Legal Qualifications**: Relevant legal qualifications that complement your experience in this field.
- ** Proven Team Management Skills**: A track record of effectively managing a small team, fostering collaboration and development while achieving business objectives.
