This role will be an integral member of our Public Affairs and Communications team and together with the Novo Nordisk Oceania cross functional business units will lead the day-to-day responsibilities of planning and executing our engagement with public affairs and advocacy stakeholders to help improve the lives of people living with chronic disease through shaping Federal and State healthcare policy.- The key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- In close collaboration with the Novo Nordisk business units, develop and implement the public affairs strategy for the disease areas we work in ensuring long-term, trusted relationships with public affairs and advocacy stakeholders.
- In partnership with external stakeholders develop and implement joint advocacy initiatives (with clear KPIs) to help improve the lives of people living with chronic disease and ensure chronic diseases are prioritized by our health system.
- In collaboration with patient organizations provide platforms to improve the lives of people living with chronic disease. Assesses gaps and opportunities for the involvement of Novo Nordisk in policy and decision-making processes. Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, codes and the Novo Nordisk Business Ethics framework.
- Maintain ongoing stakeholder mapping and prioritization for the disease areas we contribute to identifying gaps and opportunities where Novo Nordisk can drive and lead change. Monitor the external health and policy environment relevant to the disease areas we operate in to generate public affairs analyses and insights for the relevant business units. Managing assigned budgets including active efforts to secure funding for initiatives.
- Assist the Communications team in delivering the Oceania communications strategy as required and actively share best practices and participate in our APAC and global public affairs and patient relations networks.
**Qualifications**
- A university degree preferably in health, business, science or public health/policy related area.
- Experience planning and executing public affairs strategies in pharmaceutical/health care from consultancy or industry and with a good understanding of the Australian health system.
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with external stakeholders such as Government, trade associations, policy groups and patient organizations. Strong social skills and ability to enable effective relationships locally, across a global organization and with external agencies and partners.
- Business acumen, ability to work collaboratively on project execution with a variety of internal/external stakeholders and has excellent project management and communication skills.
- Must either be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or have a current residency Visa to live and work in AU/NZ.
