**About the Role**

The Governance Advisor sits within the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and is responsible for maintaining and implementing a project delivery governance structure that enables effective decision making, allocation of effort and monitoring performance of all projects within the Department’s delivery program. Under direction, deliver a range of operational services within the Governance team, including processes associated with the Project Steering Committees (PSCs) that are managed within the PMO.

To be successful in the role you must provide operational support with the timely distribution of submissions, agendas and briefings and the timely compilation of documents for PSC meetings. You must proactively maintain governance databases & guides, prepare briefings and provide in-depth analysis on submissions brought to the PSCs.

- **Governance Secretariat **- Delivers the secretariat function for select committees in a timely, accurate and transparent manner. Committee papers are accurately documented, communicated to relevant stakeholders and supports effective decision-making.
- **Document Management **- Demonstrates a strong understanding of governance, to support the operation of a fit-for-purpose project/program governance structure to support better outcomes.
- **High Quality Advice **- Provides timely and high-quality advice on best practice governance processes, working collaboratively to ensure understanding of expectations, and how to achieve them. Proactive escalation of issues and/or opportunities.
- **Continuous Improvement **- Delivers continuous improvement in governance practices including improving processes, documentation & templates to support better outcomes and to ensure a coordinated approach is applied and project areas are supported.

- **Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (Foundational)** - Seeks resolution of problems through policy or process guidelines; Otherwise seeks guidance by providing information and ideas relevant towards resolution of problem. Understands concepts enabling improvements in critical thinking and problem solving.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Desirable**
- A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded.
- Experience in project, program and process delivery.
- Experience navigating State Government processes and Committees.
