Why this role matters
The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to deliver assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions and referrals to women, and women with children, who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence.
The successful applicant will also be required to provide interim support and outreach in the community and motels as required, and respond to referrals coming into the program including from The Orange Door, Safe Steps and self-referrals.
Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a Max-Term (until September 2025), full-time position based in Windsor, Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 5.
You will successfully- Establish relationships with clients that encourage self-determination and participation.- Provide ongoing assessment of the client’s issues, needs and circumstances from initial intake to exit.- Assist clients to access holistic support services and establish community connections, and where needed are assisted through advocacy with service providers.- Monitor and review regularly the progress and outcomes of individual case plans.- Identify risks to clients, staff and The Salvation Army and bring them to the attention of the Team Leader.- Identify service gaps and make recommendations for service delivery improvements.
You will have- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent (essential).- A current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.- A current Victorian Driver Licence.- Experience working in the family violence sector (desirable).- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work(highly desirable).- Demonstrated crisis response experience and skills.- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required.- Advanced computer skills including experience in data and record management.
