**About the Role**
- As a Drug & Alcohol Aboriginal Health professional, you will provide a crucial link and connect with community members, teams, services, and virtual clinics.
- Your day comprises of providing support, advice, education, cultural expertise, and knowledge into best practices for staff and clients.
- You will also be an advocate and liaison for Aboriginal community members and kin within the community and when attending Court.
- You will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary team where your cultural perspective and lens will ensure cultural safety and appropriate services are provided.
- Orientation programs will be communicated, and learning comprises of online and classroom education.
- Further to this, educational opportunities can be discussed as aspirations align with development plans and for this position.
- The successful applicant will be supported by the Diversion Services Manager, Aboriginal DACS Manager, immediate team members, DACS District Manager, fellow colleagues of the HNE DACS team; and Aboriginal peers and programs that provide levels of cultural support and networking.
- You will also be connected to the local facility staff and management on site.

**About You**
- Confidentiality and the ability to set good ethical boundaries is required, along with displaying personal resilience, possessing outstanding communication skills, and the ability to facilitate culturally responsive care.
- Sound understanding of cultural barriers and issues facing Aboriginal people accessing mainstream services.

**Where you'll be working**
- The local DACS team consists of nursing and allied health professionals on site, whilst also being connected to a larger DACS workforce and health professionals across the local health district.
- The Drug Court Team is also part of an even broader team connected to the Court where the successful applicant with be working with service such as, Legal Aid, Police Prosecutors, Court Staff, DPP and Community Corrections.

This is a Category A position. All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement (IHS), or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate, or AIR COVID-19 and Influenza IHS. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
