The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

**Symal** is part of the **Eastern Freeway - Burke to Tram Alliance** with Major Road Projects Victoria, Laing O’Rourke, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North East Link tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards.
The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

**The role**:
As our Alliance continues to grow, we are looking a Traffic Superintendent to join the team in a permanent role, based in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne.

Reporting to the General Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating transportation and operations for the Project.

**Your every day**:

- Managing a team on-site to achieve project objectives, and planning and programming daily construction activities
- Supervising traffic management, ensuring that all site works are carried out in accordance with approved traffic management plans and undertaking regular site audits and inspections
- Review traffic and transport matters impacting the project and provide innovative and appropriate solutions for improvements.
- Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an open dialogue of communication related to traffic matters
- Providing input into the master construction plan
- Scheduling and coordinating movement of goods and materials ensuring timely delivery and efficient use of resources
- Monitoring transportation routes and optimising them to minimise costs and delivery times
- Communicating with suppliers, carriers and warehouse personnel to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise
- Managing transportation contract ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
- Implementing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations to minimise risks
- Identify areas for process improvement and implementing strategies to enhance transportation efficiency
- Collaborating with other departments to ensure effective coordination
- Financial Management - Daily, weekly and monthly reviews

**Who are you?**
- A relevant trade qualification, combined with significant construction delivery experience for a Tier 1 or a major infrastructure project in Australia
- Significant experience in a senior traffic supervision role on project/s $250M+
- Strong client interface, coordination, time management and safety leadership skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative style of leadership
- Ability to build rapport with all stakeholders and maintain positive relationships across the Alliance
- Proven experience managing large and diverse teams
- Focus on developing and maintaining a positive culture in line with our Alliance values
- Ability to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs
