- The position contributes to the efficient operation of the Office of the Ombudsman by facilitating the early resolution of complaints and undertaking inquiries and assisting with investigations. The position requires frequent communication with members of the public and the ability to maintain a high and respected profile with government agencies at state and local level.The Office of the Ombudsman and Health Complaints Commissioner supports reasonable adjustment requests in any stage of the assessment process to remove barriers and facilitate full participation in all aspects of employment for applicants with disability. **Hours per fortnight**:
73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available.

**Duties**:

- Assist the Ombudsman in the fulfilment of the Ombudsman’s responsibilities under the _Ombudsman Act _1978 and other legislation as required.
- Receive and record inquiries and complaints, and, where appropriate, facilitate quick resolution directly with the public authority.
- Investigate a wide variety of complaints concerning public administration, negotiate appropriate solutions and strategies, and prepare correspondence and reports. Formulate suggested strategies for public authorities to improve their procedures and practices, including ways of addressing systemic issues.
- Undertake research, advise on matters relating to complaints resolution, standards of service delivery and other matters within the general jurisdiction of the _Ombudsman Act _1978.

**Desirable Requirements**:

- Current Drivers Licence,
- relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (Registration Status - Employment).
