**About the Role**

**_ This is a Fixed Term oppertunity until 27 February 2026_**

As the First Peoples Business Engagement Coordinator within the First Peoples Self-Determination and Reform Division at the Department of Transport and Planning in Victoria, Australia, the roles objectives are to significantly contribute to the department's dedication to advancing First Peoples' self-determination.

The primary focus will be to improve procurement outcomes for First Peoples businesses in accordance with Victoria's Social Procurement Framework, Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, and the Department of Transport and Planning’s First Peoples Self-Determination Plan.

**This is a prioritised position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians in accordance with the Special Measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).**

**Position Outcomes / Accountabilities**

The individual will demonstrate a strong understanding of Business and Commercial Acumen by seeking efficient operations and holding external vendors accountable. They will excel in Communicating with Impact by identifying key messages, providing influential advice, and tailoring communication to target audiences. In Project Delivery, they will translate strategies into successful programs, define governance measures, and manage risks effectively.
- Provide advice to the Transport and Planning Portfolio First Peoples Steering Committee and First Peoples Procurement Working Group on implementation progress and strategic issues relating to First Peoples procurement and the Victorian First Peoples Business Sector.
- In partnership with DTP Procurement, coordinate the Transport and Planning Portfolio First Peoples Procurement Working Group.
- Monthly reporting on DTP and Portfolio First Peoples Procurement.
- Partner with DTP, Kinaway and First Peoples Businesses to Increase the number of prequalified Victorian First Peoples businesses.
- Partner with DTP business units to increase the number and value of contracts awarded to Victorian First Peoples businesses.
- Oversee information and training focused on First Peoples business engagement.
- Partner with DTP business units to undertake ‘opportunity analysis’.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- _Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Victorian Aboriginal cultures and societies including Traditional Owner groups and Victorian First Peoples Businesses._

**Desirable**
- _Experience in or understanding of Victorian Government procurement and purchasing, including models and processes, barriers, and a demonstrated ability to develop innovative workarounds._
