- Base salary range: $76,422 - $84,705 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

**About the team**
As part of College Services, you will join the Technical Services team. College Services provides academic administration and technical support services to the University’s schools, including Heads of School, academic staff and research students. Technical Services provides discipline specific, applied knowledge and skill sets to support UWA’s teaching and research goals in unison with our academic staff.

This team within Technical Services underpins training and learning across the broad Field of Education of Biomedical Sciences, and may include disciplines of infection and immunity, pathology, pharmacology, pharmacy, biochemistry and diagnostic pathology including the curation of associated resources.

**About the opportunity**
Reporting to the Scientific Officer, you will provide specialised technical support in Biochemistry to academics, technical staff, and students for practical activities and research. You will also assist in the preparation and demonstration of laboratory classes, with potential involvement in other areas within the team. The role emphasises adherence to best practices in laboratory settings.

**Peak Periods**
There are three roles being advertised. One position is being offered on a regular 0.9 FTE working arrangement, the other two positions are offered under a specified roster of working weeks in line with peak periods. For these positions, you will be required to work 0.6 FTE during off-peak periods (20 weeks per year), and 0.9 FTE during peak periods only (32 weeks per year). Peak periods run from Week 6 to Week 21 and again from Week 27 to Week 42. While specific dates change year to year, you can expect to work 0.9 FTE from Monday, 5 February to Friday, 24 May 2024 and again from Monday, 1 July to Friday, 18 October 2024.

Note: All positions require you to fit the physical requirements of the position and some after-hours work may be required.

**About you**
You will possess applied technical and safety knowledge within the Biomedical science disciplines, with a strong preference for considerable experience in biochemistry and genetics. Experience with tissue culture will be favourably considered. You should also be familiar with general protocols for safely using various chemicals and workplace health and safety measures.

To be successful in this position, you should demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills. You will also be a flexible and supportive member to your team and academic staff. There will be a strong focus to support teaching from a technical perspective, as well as management of staff, laboratory spaces and equipment.
