**The Role**
The Cryptology section is expanding and seeking to fill multiple Cryptanalyst positions. In a strong team environment, you will work alongside equally talented colleagues supported by technical and non-technical leadership. You will play a crucial role in ensuring ASD’s cryptologic capabilities are fit-for-purpose and responsive to sensitive and time-critical mission requirements.
As an ASD 6 Cryptanalyst, your duties may include any of the following:
- analysing cryptographic data
- looking for underlying meaning in unfamiliar data and protocols
- evaluating cryptographic products
- informing requirements for Australian government cryptographic security
- working with some of the most powerful supercomputers in the Southern Hemisphere
- providing cryptographic expertise in support of state and federal government agencies
- conducting cryptographic research
- performing reverse engineering and vulnerability research
- liaising with industry and international standards forums
- cooperating with partner agencies
**About our Team**
ASD’s Cryptology Section is the Australian Government expert on cryptography and cryptanalysis. Cryptography is the study of making secure communication systems and cryptanalysis is the study of breaking secure communication systems.
We are a nationally dispersed team with a diverse set of skills, backgrounds and experience, comprised of people from industry, academia and fresh from completing study.

**As an ASD6 Cryptanalyst**, you will have recognised expertise in a specific area and be responsible for delivering outcomes with mínimal to no direction. These are more senior positions, and you will be expected to lead on problems and provide mentoring to other staff. We are seeking people who are:
