Research Assistant - Murphy Lab
**Job Description**:
An excellent opportunity is available for a Research Assistant to join the Murphy Laboratory in the Inflammation Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
The position will involve working in a laboratory seeking to understand how proteins involved in necroptosis programmed cell death pathway are dysregulated in human pathologies. The Murphy laboratory uses biochemical, structural, molecular and cellular biology, proteomics, mouse models and analyses of human biopsies to understand necroptotic signal transduction in normal and diseased tissues. Key responsibilities include examination of human biopsies by immunoblot and immunostaining using established procedures, accurate recording of results and maintenance of laboratory resources and records.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- BSc(Hons) or equivalent degree and significant laboratory experience- Expertise in cell biology methods is essential- Expertise in immunoblotting is essential- Proven interpersonal and collaborative skills in achieving research outcomes
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
- Immunostaining experience is highly desirable- Experience in handling human biopsies will be favourably considered
Personal Qualities:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work constructively within a team environment- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring that data, new methods and theories are accurate, of high-quality and accessible to other researchers- Ability to manage time effectively and be reliable and approachable
Terms of Appointment
This position is available for one year in a full time capacity. Salary is Research Support Employee Level RSE 5 ($76,566 - $87,947). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
