The role

Propel your business development and marketing career by joining the Perth office of our leading national law firm, supporting the business on high profile and high quality initiatives to grow the practice in Perth.

In this full-time role, you will work closely with the Perth Clients & Markets (C&M) Senior Manager, Events Advisor and Business Development Coordinator in providing specialist business development, key account management, marketing, and event management support. This is a cross-practice, cross-sector role which contributes to growth and profiling initiatives across the Perth office, as well as to national portfolios and projects across Energy Transition and ESG, among others.

Key responsibilities:
Being part of a national team and a senior contributor in the local C&M team, you will develop and implement sophisticated client-focused and market-focused strategies to achieve the firm's objectives.

In this fast-paced role, you will be involved with:

- Identifying and executing business development initiatives (prospecting, profile raising, collaboration projects and the Perth business development strategy).
- Project managing, writing and driving tenders and bid opportunities.
- Monitoring relevant market, client and industry information and providing research and analysis.
- Identifying emerging trends and issues, new client and work opportunities and working with stakeholders to pursue these.
- Managing profiling and thought leadership opportunities, including through digital channels.
- Managing key client accounts, local priority accounts and panel relationships.
- Working with colleagues and counterparts across the business on pursuits.
- Working in collaboration with the Events Adviser and Business Development Coordinator on managing internal and external client events and initiatives.
- Participating in client feedback sessions and matter debriefs.
- Delegation, supervision, and mentoring of the Perth C&M Coordinator.
- Working on other business critical projects across the business.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications (either business or legal) coupled with legal/business development experience gained ideally from a professional services environment.
- Strong tender management skills and a proactive, organised and pragmatic style
- Agility and proactivity, a connector and collaborator - able to connect the dots.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, the ability to build rapport and relationships, with a strong influencing and consulting style.
- Curiosity and intellect - an ability to ask the right questions and be solutions-focussed.
- Proven consistency in delivering high quality work, being responsive and meeting tight deadlines.
- Exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail.
- Proven leadership skills, including people/team management experience (preferred).
- Business acumen - understanding drivers of the business.

The Clients and Markets (Business Development) team

The Clients and Markets team is responsible for advising and providing services to the business on practice group, sector group and client development opportunities. This includes the full spectrum of the marketing mix from bid management and opportunity identification to client relationship management and the development of tailored marketing materials. It also includes an active role in event management, client, market and industry research and analysis, media and corporate affairs, legal communications and branding and design.
