The Resilience and Crisis Management Division within PM&C provides high quality advice and support to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on national preparedness and resilience issues and supports whole-of-government and national coordination of emergency management. **What you will do**

The Resilience and Crisis Management Division within PM&C provides high quality advice and support to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet on national preparedness and resilience issues and supports whole-of-government and national coordination of emergency management. Key functions include:

- Working with Commonwealth agencies to ensure the Australian Government’s crisis management arrangements are effective and fit-for-purpose for the full spectrum of potential disruptions;
- Advising the Prime Minister and Cabinet on whole-of-government disaster recovery functions and policy, including Commonwealth support for the states and territories;
- Supporting the Prime Minister to promote continuous improvement and provide assurance of Australia’s short and long-term recovery arrangements;
- Offering Commonwealth agencies support in navigating government processes - in particular the Cabinet process, the Budget cycle and the legislative process;
- Advising the Prime Minister and Cabinet on whole-of-government efforts to develop national resilience;
- Working with a range of stakeholders to mature efforts to manage risks and prioritise actions to inform decision making.

As an Adviser in the Resilience and Crisis Management Division, you will work across the Department and closely with partner agencies. You will help coordinate and enable the delivery of national outcomes, and provide confidence that the Australian Government’s arrangements are effective, accountable and fit-for-purpose.

**What you will bring**

Resilience and Crisis Management Division is seeking energetic, innovative and forward-looking team players to fill APS5 and APS6 roles across the Division. This is an opportunity to make your mark in important and cross-cutting areas of national preparedness, crisis management, disaster recovery and resilience.

We are seeking people with:

- Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate and cooperate with a variety of stakeholders;
- Demonstrates initiative, good judgement, and strong analytical thinking skills to deliver outcomes on the most important issues;
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, keep calm under pressure, and focus on problem solving, including the flexibility to pivot to supporting RCMD response to crisis or other urgent priorities;
- Strong writing skills and experience preparing high-level documents, submissions, reports and briefings;
- A drive to deliver quality outcomes for the Australian public and Government and to collaborate with colleagues in our partner agencies to do the same.

Demonstrated experience in policy development, program and project management and risk management is desirable but not mandatory.
