**Position Information**:
St Johns Park High School is a proud comprehensive school of over 900 students, where more than 90% of students are from a language background other than English. The school has a strong reputation as a provider of quality educational services and outcomes for a diverse community. It includes a Special Education unit with five designated classes with mild to severe intellectual disability and autism.
The school has a highly motivated staff to support students’ academic, social and personal growth through a broad, relevant and innovative curriculum including VET pathways, high performance gifted and talented programs, Accelerated Mathematics and authentic project based learning.
The school is also well known in the community for its external partnerships with partner primary schools, agencies and the business community, strong student leadership programs and values driven wellbeing initiatives through Positive Behaviour for Learning. Our teachers provide a quality learning environment for students that draws on research-informed pedagogy.
Teachers are involved in research, collaboration, data analysis and professional learning to continually reflect on and improve their practice.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria:
- Ability to work collaboratively with school leaders and the wider community to lead, manage and implement whole school processes and initiatives that support the school’s strategic directions.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to lead an effective, diverse and collaborative faculty team to build a culture of high expectations for student and staff performance.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of curriculum reform including innovative, high-quality teaching and learning programs and assessment, which cater for the diverse needs of all students.
- Effectively uses data analysis and professional learning to build staff capacity by targeting specific learning outcomes and improving student performance.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
