**The role**

The Executive Manager Waste and Environment will provide leadership and direction to enhance waste services, resource recovery and environmental sustainability within the City of Ballarat including:

- Management of in-house waste, recycling and green waste services.
- Management of the active landfill, the transfer station and closed landfills.
- Implementation of kerbside glass and FOGO services as aligned to existing kerbside transition plans.
- Progression of the principles of the City of Ballarat’s Circular Economy Framework and initiatives that support development of the Circular Economy Precinct.
- Implementation of Council’s carbon emissions reduction strategies and initiatives.
- Ongoing implementation of the projects and principles aligned to ecologially sustainable development (ESD).
- Implement actions associated with Biodiversity Strategy, IWM and natural assets.

**About you**

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science/engineering or others relevant to the position.
- Experience within the sustainability, natural resources and/or landfill management and waste services fields.
- Extensive contract / project management skills and experience in managing waste contracts and projects.
- Ability to think strategically to develop and manage complex environment and natural resources issues.
- Strong financial management skills including budget development and control.
- Experience in the effective management of staff, including recruitment, staff development and performance management.
