The Salvation Army Melbourne Project 614 is a team of staff and volunteers based in the City of Melbourne, who are passionate about working with those who live on the city fringes. Connecting with many people each day, we work with people who are homeless and/or at risk of homelessness, mental health, addition or experiencing social poverty.

The Marketplace, also known as Emergency Relief, provides practical and limited financial support in a compassionate, confidential manner to vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the respective Local Government Area who find themselves in financial crisis. It offers a selection of food, clothing and other necessities such as transport tickets and vouchers to people who are homeless or disadvantaged. Referrals are also made from the Marketplace for those who are identified as having accommodation issues or other issues to ensure appropriate support.

Emergency relief may be a one off transaction or a number of episodes of support.

We are currently seeking a Marketplace Coordinator to co-ordinate and deliver emergency relief support in keeping with the mission, vision and values of Melbourne Project 614 and The Salvation Army. In this role you will lead an effective and high functioning team of volunteers to provide day to day management and ensure service continuity of Community Support Services.

You will successfully
- Undertake efficient and caring assessment of client’s needs with referrals made to appropriate 614 programs, wider Salvation Army services or external service provider
- Complete all required administrative tasks within required timeframes ensuring accurate program delivery
- Treat clients with empathy, dignity and respect and manage clients' behaviour effectively and appropriately
- Take responsibility for the successful service delivery of emergency relief in the Marketplace
- Ensure resources and referral information is current and up-to-date
- Coordinate pick up of all donations to the Marketplace in a timely manner
- Coordinate all Marketplace volunteers effectively and ensure they are appropriately inducted and trained

You will have
- Certificate IV with equivalent demonstrated experience in Emergency Relief and willingness to complete further approved trainingis desirable
- A degree level qualification in Welfare, Psychology, Social Work, Community/Human Services discipline is desirable
- A current Victorian Drivers Licence
- A current Victorian Employee Working With Children Check
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
