**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Council’s Assets, Capital and Facilities unit sits within the City Services directorate and focuses on the beautification of the Cumberland LGA. Cumberland City Council owns and operates four (4) swim and leisure centre facilities across the LGA which provide recreational services to our community.

In contributing to the overarching vision, the Aquatic Centre Manager contributes to the health and wellbeing of the Cumberland Council community through the management of aquatic facilities, including associated gyms, learn to swim, health and fitness programs, and ancillary services and programs.

The position will lead, develop and manage all of Council’s direct service aquatic centres, developing strategies, plans, policies and programs to ensure an integrated and responsive range of aquatic and health and fitness services are available to meet local needs.

The role is responsible for managing the work and activities of staff at the centres to ensure the team consistently meets its targets in Council’s Operational and Strategic Plans.

The successful applicant will require:

- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in recreation or a related discipline and/or equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience in aquatics and health and fitness centres and the management of community programs, services and facilities, including strategy, policy and program development.
- Extensive experience in leading engagement and facilitation to achieve set objectives and a commitment to community development principles.
- Extensive experience in managing aquatics operations, associated asset, compliance, risk and safety management.
- Specialist skills and experience in business planning and management, project management, contract management, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory framework relevant to the work of the Unit, including related sections of the Local Government Act, Swimming Pools Act, networks, agencies and practices, funding sources, and current issues in the aquatics, health and fitness community facilities sectors.
- Strong interpersonal communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- High level analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to inspire and support innovative thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team and its functions to achieve outcomes that address current challenges for the Cumberland Council and its commitments to the community.
- Demonstrated financial management and budgetary experience.
- Knowledge and skills in contemporary management practices, staff management, performance management, staff development, change management and quality management systems.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight.

This role is predominantly located at Council's Granville Swim Centre, with frequent travel required across Council's Swim Centres, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 17 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $3,167.26 to $3,642.35 per week, plus 11% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
