**Description**

Key responsibilities will include:

- Conduct research by collection information, drafting reports and presentation slides in Japanese. The main topics that will be covered are:

- Australian foreign policies including Pacific Step-up, Australia-Japan-United States Trilateral Infrastructure Partnership, QUAD, AUKUS, and Australia-China relationship
- Politics and Economics in Australia (including the policies and industrial response toward decarbonization trend such as hydrogen, ammonia, and CCS)
- Politics and Economics in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Island and other Pacific Island Countries
- Information about potential financing projects and activities of IFIs( such as ADB, IFC, EIB and PRIF) and DFCs(such as AIFFP and JICA)
- Summarise and compile reports in Japanese to report to Tokyo Head Office
- Participate to seminars and meetings, and draft summary reports/meeting in Japanese
- Build and maintain relationships with external experts.
- Manage external research contracts, including directing and supervising outside consultants for research projects
- Support Tokyo Head Office and/or Japanese Representative's mission including meeting arrangement and accompanying business trip with head office staffs
- Perform other ad-hoc duties

**Profile**

**In order to be considered for this role you will have the following key attributes, skills and strengths**:

- Similar experience in research or journalism will be highly regarded.
- Advanced level of Japanese language skills will be required -JLPT N1 holders are welcome to apply
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to ensuring total correctness of facts
- Occasional travel required
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Team player
- Must be able to adopt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks
