**The Opportunity**:
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for two Parliamentary Service Level 5 Hansard Editorial Support Officers within Digital Recording Services Branch.

The Hansard section of the Digital Recording Services Branch produces the report of the proceedings of the Australian parliament and its committees. This includes the Senate, House of Representatives, the Federation Chamber and all parliamentary committees.

As a Hansard Editorial Support Officer you will work as part of the Hansard Support Unit (HSU) team at Australian Parliament House in Canberra. You will prepare and publish Hansard transcripts online within prescribed deadlines, including preparing and formatting procedural and other parliamentary material for incorporation in Hansard transcripts.

You will provide system administration support for the Parliamentary Information Management System (PIMS) and first-level ICT support for PIMS and other Hansard-specific ICT to Hansard staff. You will also prepare rosters, undertake administrative tasks and provide web publishing and social media support for Hansard.

In parliamentary sitting weeks you will be required to work long and irregular hours, including evenings, for which you will receive a four per cent evening duty allowance. Overtime is also payable.

To be successful in this role you will have proven ability to work as part of a team and provide high-quality support and advice. You will need sound oral and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail. You will have extensive experience in and the ability to provide support for information technology, including Microsoft Office products. You will have the ability to manage competing priorities and achieve results under pressure. You will have knowledge of, or interest in, and the ability to learn parliamentary practice and procedure. You will be able, and be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all senators and members without favour or prejudice.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

- The successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.

Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the Parliamentary Service Level 5 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Prepare and publish Hansard transcripts online within prescribed deadlines.
- Provide advice on and assist in the preparation and formatting of procedural and other parliamentary material for incorporation in Hansard transcripts.
- Provide system administration support for the Parliamentary Information Management System and first-level system support to Hansard staff.
- Prepare rosters and undertake administrative tasks.
- Provide web publishing and social media support for Hansard.
- Undertake project work to progress organisational capability.
- Other duties as directed.
- Employees of DPS are required to be able, and to be seen to be able, to provide professional advice and services to all Senators and Members without favour or prejudice._
