About the job

With the continued growth of our business, we have an exciting opportunity for a Global Commodity Manager to take on the challenge and join a dynamic environment where you will manage the direct material commodities for all the refining operations of Alcoa globally.

In this role, you will keep abreast with top of the market intelligence to track trends, pricing and availability of Lime, from effective alignment with plant requirements to the strategy development of commercial arrangements and execution of successful negotiation, your efforts will be contributing to the success of our refining operations. Utilising your expertise in project management along with your ability to influence people outside of your direct scope, you will be working towards:
- Driving initiative to ensure the business is flexible and adaptable to changes in raw material sourcing and challenging sourcing portfolios by presenting opportunities to trial non-traditional, lower priced alternatives wherever possible.- Maintaining and enhancing business relationships between Alcoa and internal customers, working closely with our Continuous Improvement teams, Global Operational and Technical leads to inspire different mode of delivery and serving as the key contact with suppliers globally ensuring supply demands deliver quality.- Developing and implementing creative sourcing and contracting strategies that deliver competent and focused execution resulting in timely and optimised shipping arrangements in a complex and volatile commodity market.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce majoring in Business, Business Law, Marketing, Supply Chain Management or related discipline - advanced degree (MBA) preferred.- Background in Chemistry, Procurement and / or Engineering would be advantageous.- Experienced in Strategic Commodity Management with well-developed project management skills.- Ability to communicate effectively, influence change and negotiate positive outcomes with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of management.- Critical and strategic mindset with a proactive and creative approach to analysing problems and identifying new business opportunities.
