Hastings is currently focused on the delivery of the Yangibana Project located in the Gascoyne and Pilbara regions of Western Australia.

**About the Position**

The Environment & Sustainability Advisor supports the Yangibana site to develop and implement sustainability initiatives and strategies to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements and internal management plans, procedures and processes.

**Main activities of the role include**:
Assist site team to achieve compliance by providing sustainability input into site activities

Conducting workplace inspections to ensure observance of environment requirements and providing feedback and associated recommendations
- Coordinate, supervise and conduct environmental and sustainability-related monitoring activities
- Providing training and educational programs relating to sustainability issues
- Compiling reports, statistics and technical documents as required for site and corporate reporting (e.g. NGERS, NPI reporting)

It supports Hastings in implementing its Climate Change, Environmental and Human Rights Policies through undertaking site activities, undertaking sustainability programs, undertaking audit and monitoring programs to ensure compliance and creating a high level of awareness of sustainability requirements.

**Job Requirements**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide sustainability advice to the business to support construction activities
- Coordinate the collection and collation of emissions related data (water, waste, GHG)
- Ensure environmental incidents are reported in INX and investigations are conducted and closed out appropriately
- Undertake audits and inspections with site staff aimed at achieving compliance and continual improvement in environmental performance
- Maintain the Yangibana site management plans, procedures and supporting processes
- Ensure documents, registers and approval consents are available to relevant site staff
- Support delivery of environment and sustainability inductions
- Undertake training and awareness sessions with staff to increase awareness of their responsibilities and use of the ESMS in their areas of work
- Regularly communicate sustainability awareness notices and information through pre-starts, posters, toolbox and other mechanisms
- Coordinate and execute environmental monitoring programs include but not limited to weed and vegetation health, groundwater, surface water and dust
- Undertake weed and feral animal programs
- Coordinate rehabilitation activities on exploration and project areas
- Develop systems for the storage and management of environmental monitoring data
- Prepare monthly internal environmental reports.
- Prepare regulatory compliance reports (NGERS, NPI etc.) including construction and commissioning reports for submission to regulators as required by Works Approvals and annual compliance reporting required by Ministerial Statement and EBPC consent.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as required.
- Support data gathering and preparation of Hastings’ Annual Sustainability Report

**About You**
- High level of knowledge of environmental management and compliance across Hastings.
- Compliance with Hastings environmental obligations
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or similar.
- Two to five years’ experience in mining.
- An understanding of relevant state and federal legislation and regulatory approvals systems.
- An understanding of environmental management systems and their practical implementation
- Strong attention to detail and capability in data collation and
- Time management.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders and encourage positive collaboration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
