Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.
About the role
You’ll join an innovative team, who provide expert guidance, assessments and support to minimise privacy risks through analysis, Privacy by Design principles, investigation and remediation activities.
As our Privacy & Data Protection Services Lead you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead and manage the Privacy and Data Protection Services Team to enhance the Transurban Group’s risk posture through appropriate privacy and data protection activities
- Lead, monitor and report the Transurban Group’s PCI DSS and SWIFT compliance activities to the Group Manager, Privacy and Data Protection
- Lead the Privacy and Data Protection Services Team activities to maintain effective Privacy Incident and Privacy Impact Assessment processes
- Collaborate and manage all relevant internal and external stakeholders to support privacy and data protection activities as well as identify and advise on potential privacy risks, issues, incidents and recommend actions
- Proactively contribute to the uplift of and maturity of Transurban’s Privacy Framework and privacy culture and provide regular management reporting requirements
- Lead ongoing education and training to embed Privacy by Design principles and guidelines throughout the Transurban Group
- Align the Privacy and Data Protection Services Team processes with legislative and regulatory requirements for all relevant jurisdictions and maintain knowledge of applicable laws and standards
- Execute effective people processes and practices, as well as establish and regularly review team priorities, performance objectives and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Technical expertise in PCI DSS or a similar data protection discipline and preferably have formal security certifications completed (such as CISM or CISSP)
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications, at degree level and/or demonstrated significant equivalent experience and competencies.
- Demonstrated experience with leading data protection related activities and initiatives
- Extensive experience and knowledge of privacy, records management and information security
- Knowledge of strategy and mitigation techniques to limit impacts on environments where Personal Information is collected, stored, accessed or used
- Your communication skills will be highly developed enabling you to mediate difficult conversations and influence outcomes
- A natural builder of relationships, you’ll enjoy getting on the front foot, embedding yourself in the business and interested stakeholders
- You’ll naturally explore new ideas and better ways of working and you’ll have the ability to implement continuous improvement processes, including the role
With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:
- A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
- 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
- Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
- Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
- Share offers and insurance benefits
- Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days
We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience - whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
