**Who we are**
The Portfolio Strategy Division works across the portfolio to foster a coordinated approach to priorities that support the department’s work. We deliver nationally integrated advice, coordination and support services to our portfolio ministers and their offices, the executive, and the department. Our work includes parliamentary business; ministerial and executive support; media and social media; staff diversity networks and portfolio-related government appointments; business and workforce planning and reporting; providing people services; design and change management and communication services. As an enabling division, our operating environment will be impacted by the broad trends affecting the portfolio.

The Ministerial Liaison and Governance Branch is responsible for supporting engagement with our Ministers and facilitating good governance across the department. This includes corporate planning and performance reporting; supporting the department’s Senior Executive, Executive Board, and governance committees; supporting staff to manage risk.

The Enterprise Risk Section is responsible for supporting the implementation of better practice risk management in the department through the administration of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, including identifying and reporting on departmental risks, and providing support for effective risk management and appropriate governance. The Section works with line areas on a variety of high-profile projects and programs to provide advice on risk management. The Section supports the Chief Risk Officer with providing oversight of risk management across the department and building a positive risk culture.

**The Job**
The main duties of the position will include, but are not limited to:

- actively promoting and supporting the department’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework implementation
- proactively engaging with functions of the department to provide guidance on their risk management approach
- facilitating workshops to assist business areas identify risks and undertake risk assessments
- liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders and participating in committees and forums
- developing effective, collaborative, and strategic working relationships with stakeholders (internal and external) while managing sensitivities, through negotiation and change
- ensuring all risk support activities actively promote a positive risk culture
- leading and developing a small team whilst practicing inclusive leadership
- building the capability of team members and ensuring that they maintain current and appropriate expertise
- maintaining an in-depth understanding of relevant legislative, policy and procedural frameworks and ensuring that team members are aware of and operate within these frameworks
- assisting in setting strategic priorities for the team to achieve department outcomes
- preparing reports, briefing papers, and discussion papers.
