Exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced **Payroll Officer** to be a key member of our payroll team.

**Purpose of Position**

The Payroll Officer provides transaction processing and the effective management of payroll and related employee functions. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Southern Cross Care policies and procedures, relevant standards, legislation and accepted industry practices.

This position is responsible for the accurate, efficient and timely completion of routine payroll and employee transactional functions including interpretation of timesheets, masterfile maintenance, data entry when required and reporting in accordance with legislated timeframes.
- Liaising with staff and management on payroll queries.
- Interpreting time and attendance data according to SCC Enterprise Agreement, relevant payroll legislation and company policies.
- Payroll reporting to meet internal and statutory obligations.
- Calculation and processing of termination and redundancy payments.
- Processing pay increases and calculation of back-pays, including relevant taxation.
- Assisting with reconciliation and payment of payroll and payroll-related transactions including employee benefits and superannuation contributions, garnishee, child support, parental leave.
- Support reporting and information gathering for internal and external audits.
- Various ad-hoc responsibilities as required.

**Experience & Skills**

**Essential -**
- Minimum of 3 years in payroll processing in payroll team office environment.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation and processes.
- Sound ability to interpret awards and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated computer skills particularly regarding Payroll, T&A and Microsoft Office products.
- Time management skills and ability to prioritise and plan.
- Ability to work with competing deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail & accuracy.
- Strong customer service skills, polite in approach.
- Dedication to maintaining confidential information.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.

**Desirable -**
- Experience in health, aged care or similar timesheet-driven payroll environment.
