Someone who can commit to the WHS Team Safety Charter where partnering across the organisation enables work to proceed in a safe and effective manner. They should exercise initiative and be able to manage a high and constant workload.

**What you'll do**

The Manager (Work Health and Safety) is responsible for the coordination and provision of key work health and safety activities across the University aligned to the University’s Safety Strategy and aimed at achieving a positive safety culture across the University community. Its remit extends across teaching and research contexts, as well as enterprise operations and student accommodation.

You will be responsible for leading the ongoing management and enhancement of the University’s work health and safety management system as well as the development and implementation of the University Safety Strategy. Through partnering across the organisation, the role and its team will develop and implement programs and activities to facilitate a positive safety culture across the University’s living, learning, and working environments.

Key priorities will be;
- Re-set the Work Health and Safety team agenda, including reaffirming role expectations for both existing and new team members alike, and ensuring the continuation of the strong supportive team culture.
- Establish key working relationships across the organisation (including teaching, research and operations), building a reputation for a cooperative and collaborative approach to facilitating a positive safety culture.
- Development of the new University Safety Strategy.

**What will help you succeed**

Integral to your success in this role will be your commitment in providing strategic organisational guidance, support and expert advice with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have the ability to provide leadership and supervision to a team of professionals to motivate, develop, and coach staff to excellence in creating a positive safety culture within a large organisation.

You will also have;
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in safety and/or extensive relevant work experience, including working with regulators.
- Evidence of extensive and well-developed knowledge and skills in safety systems, principles and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and extensive experience in facilitation, consulting, influencing and building credibility across all levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated high level ability to initiate and self-manage projects and opportunities, and successfully manage a high and constant workload to meet agreed outcomes.
